The CARES Act provided money to many airlines for the purpose of keeping them running – and keeping air service available. There were initially strings attached – including that they would continue service to their usual airports at least once a week. However – airlines were later allowed to get waivers, and we found at least 50 airports lost carriers that also got bailout money – including Huntsville, Charleston, SC, New Orleans, Tucson, Flint, Lincoln and Rochester, MN.
